Mini Megacon last weekend was pretty fun. My con-neighbor and pal Joel Carroll collaborated on this sketch that went to a mutual friend who shares my appreciation of all things Rob Liefeld. Joel did rough pencils and I tightened it up in ink. I should probably mention that Joel did this drawing simply to get me to stop asking him to draw Shatterstar.

I've been silent here on the LJ/Blog, for good reason. I've been in the woodshed working on my craft. Well, that, and also re-working my site, a friend's site, my day job's website, working on a pitch with a becoming better-known comics writer, and working on a short story. That's no excuse, though. It's frustrating to have so many projects that are in various stages of completion, when all I want is one or two COMPLETED.

Anyhow, I do have some stuff I can share. Good buddy Mike Maihack commissioned me to do a Galactus commission. While screwing around, I came up with something that I didn't like as a commission, but I thought the composition and idea were kinda cool, so I finished it. Enjoy.

- I've got tons of stuff in the hopper, hopefully I can get some of it finished and put up for your perusal, or more likely, disinterest.

To celebrate, Wide Awake Press has put out another anthology (last year they put out Piltdown, which I contributed to). Anyways, I also contributed to this years offering, Ancient. I have a short story entitled The Two Least Responsible Guards in the Roman Army.

My buddy Scott had me adapt an old illustration for his band's upcoming 7". His band is called The Tim Version, a reference to the Replacement's version of their song Can't Hardly Wait recorded for the album Tim, but released with different lyrics on the album Pleased to Meet Me. They are embarking on yet another Japanese tour, and to commemorate it, the Japanese label Snuffy Smiles is releasing a split 7" with TTV and a band called Gleam Garden.

It wasn't my intention to be absent from the internets for two months, but things happen, I suppose. I've been busy keeping the wolves at bay. I've got lots in the works; a couple of short stories, a long story, and some other bits and nonsense. You'll be hearing from me again soon, I promise.

Reginald Crabapple's Big Day

This past weekend was 24 hour comic book day. I did a 24 hour comic called Reginald Crabapple's Big Day. I actually completed it in around 19 hours, which is good, because by that point I had no feeling in my fingers, pain in both elbows, and shooting pain from my right wrist to elbow. Anyways, it was a totally great experience.

I got a couple of drawings done at the Tampa Cartoonist Meeting this month. The joker might be scary and all, but for my money, Vulture is the coolest villain in hero comics. Mole Man is pretty cool, too.
